Shalom friends,
In a few days we are going to celebrate Purim together. First, we have to dress-up, because in Purim we are entitled to be happy. It is difficult to recognize Mr. Cohen who became a clown, Ms. Levi who is dressed like Queen Ester, and the kids that are dressed up like superheroes, fairies, TV figures etc.
| Now, it is time to read the Book of Ester |
 |
. Don't forget to bring a |
| noisemaker |
 |
and use it every time Haman’s name is mentioned. |
Who is Haman? - He is the "bad guy" of the Purim story. He advised King Ahasuerus
|
 |
, the king of the Persian Empire, to kill all the Jews in his 120-state-kingdom. |
The date of extermination was set to the 13th of the Hebrew month Adar. Now, the plan to rescue the Jews was left to Queen Ester and her cousin Mordechai. Ester was the Queen that Ahasuerus chose for himself who concealed her Jewish identity. She invited the King and his wicked advisor, Haman, to join her at a banquet. After they ate and drank, Ester revealed her Jewish identity and told the King that she and all her people were about to be murdered according to Haman’s order. The King hung Haman and named Mordechai as his prime minister instead of Haman, and the Jews of the empire were saved.
The 14th and 15th of Adar had turned from an expected disaster to a joyful celebration for all the Jews in the world. Let us celebrate together with costumes, noisemakers, and the traditional food called Hammantashen (special filled cookies that resemble Haman's hat or ears).

Xag Same'ax (Happy Holiday)
