Shalom friends,

The holidays are over and it is time to discuss more daily and less sacred subjects. And what would be more appropriate than "man's best friend" - the dog!

The word (kelev, dog) is mentioned 33 times in the
bible. In most cases it refers to Kalev ben Yefune
- one of the twelve scouts who were sent
by Moses to report on Erets Cna'an. The other cases refer to dogs.

Interestingly, animals in general, and dogs in particular, "speak" different languages across the globe. For
example, an Israeli dog barks (ha'u ha'u) or
(hav hav), whereas its English-speaking
mates would answer "ruf ruf".
In this issue, we'll meet some proverbs related to dogs, Hebrew commands to dogs, the conjugation of the verb "bark" and names given to well known Israeli dogs.

Lehitra'ot!
See you!

The Hebrew Online Team.
